Valentine's Day

This is a special Valentine table that I set for my sweethearts.

Fiesta flamingo dinner plates were accented by Anchor Hocking Old Colony dessert plates and small pink peony plates.  The red glass bowls came from Herberger's.

The heart-shaped glass bowls by Libby were purchased at my local dollar store.

The menu for the meal included home-made chili, fresh baked  cheddar bacon beer bread, black cherry jello with black cherries, and tapioca for dessert.

My scarlet Fiesta tidbit tray is garnished with tealights in red holders and a red berry garland.

A LOVE-ly Idea!

Here's an idea I saw in Better Homes and Gardens magazine (Feb. 2013 issue):

"Use a heart-shape craft punch on a cocktail napkin.  Then slip a contrasting colored napkin inside the fold or layer the two colors."

JoAnn Fabric sells a heart-shaped punch for $11.99.

Be My Valentine!

I know it's only January but I couldn't wait to set a table to celebrate Valentine's Day.

My favorite color combo for this holiday is black, white, red, pink, and purple.
Wish my camera showed the colors better.

Each place setting rests on a square purple charger.  The milk glass salad plates remind me of lacy doilies and supply old time romance to the tablescape.

My Fiestaware dishes in scarlet, black, heather, plum and flamingo were pressed into service as were some of my Avon Cape Cod and Old Colony white milk glass pieces by Anchor Hocking.

Each diner receives a heart-shaped box of Russell Stover chocolates.

I folded white napkins into a shape that (to me, anyway) looks heart shaped and set all three utensils on them.
