MIDNIGHT BLUE

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021!

I tried to make our New Years Eve dinner special even though we celebrated at home.

The color scheme utilized shades of cobalt, gold and white.  Napkins were folded and held in a bow tie shape with beaded napkin rings.

My little snowman calendar reminds us it’s the last day of the year.     

                              

As we are all hoping for a little more happiness in 2021, I placed two blue birds of happiness on the table. Both were wedding gifts.

Fiesta dishes were used along with blue glass pieces, most of which were collected from rummage sales by my mom.

The gold clock, which serves as a centerpiece, is set to 11:59 p.m. It was a cherished wedding gift from my husband’s aunt and uncle.

Each blue goblet had a wristwatch around its stem.

A Slice of Summer

Watermelons make such a fun summer-themed table!

This place setting consists of a watermelon placemat, a Fiesta flamingo dinner plate, a Fiesta scarlet luncheon plate, a Fiesta juniper salad plate, and a watermelon slice appetizer plate I got at an area gift shop.  The coffee cup is from Cracker Barrel and flatware is from Oneida.

This place setting uses a lemongrass luncheon plate in place of the scarlet used in the previous picture.  The placemat was rectangular-shaped when I purchased it.  There was a yellow border around the watermelon.  As the placemats are vinyl, I was able to cut the yellow border off and was left with a watermelon slice shaped placemat.

Napkins were placed inside the coffee cups.  When I checked my (paper) napkin stash, I discovered three different kinds of watermelon napkins.  I really love watermelons!

Stamped Border

I used stamps and acrylic paints to create a border in the lower level family room in my home. 

The border was created for under $10.

 The shadow effect was achieved by simply stamping a gold leaf on the wall and then a burgundy leaf on top but slightly off-center from the gold leaf.

I considered painting over the border when the room was repainted a couple of years ago, but the painters talked me out of it.

Playroom

 This isn't a table, but I wanted to share it anyway.  Our house is what I call a modified split level style.  There are three steps up from the foyer to the livingroom which left us with a room with a six foot ceiling under the foyer. This area was perfect for a kids' playroom. 

   

  The decor features a border of our three youngest kids' handprints. Missy had just turned three (red handprint), J.T. was almost five (blue handprint), and Sam was six (yellow handprint). 

One of the walls is splattered painted in red, yellow, and blue.  I was able to do the splattering during the point in construction of the house before any flooring or trim had been installed making this task much simpler.

The opposite wall is painted with chalkboard paint.  I used alphabet stamps to make a border on this wall. 

Numbers were stamped on an adjacent wall.

Handprints were placed at chair rail height on the remaining two walls.

This playroom has been wonderful place for the kids to play, but, alas, they've grown up, as children do.  One is a sophomore in college, the middle child is a senior and the (sniff) baby is a junior in high school.  It will be converted to a storage room...but the handprints will remain.

Fall Fiesta

 I use Fiestaware in fall colors to decorate my kitchen for autumn.
