Pretty Pink Poppies and Peonies

How's that for some fun alliteration?

I wait all year for my peonies for bloom.

I found these pretty poppy plates at a local gift shop last summer and thought they'd look good with Fiesta's new color release for 2012 - flamingo.

Lemongrass, flamingo and black Fiesta pieces blend in the place settings of this floral-themed table.

I found this table square on ebay.

Love the contrast of the lemongrass and flamingo with the black!

As the table square was too small to cover the table, I layered it over a large, white textured tablecloth.

CENTERPIECE TIP

, e

When I was making a last minute centerpiece for my University of Minnesota table, I used three Fiesta pieces nested inside each other.

I filled all three bowls with water.  I placed the hosta leaf ends in the biggest bowl and the large and small marigold flowers in the two smaller bowls.  Everything was held in place nicely and the centerpiece lasted about a week.

PRETTY PANSIES

My sister's framed pansy picture on this tablescape was the inspiration for this theme.  The search soon began for all things "pansy".  I purchased a pansy photo from ebay, made color photocopies and laminated the photos to serve as placemats.  I found pansy themed fabric on ebay to layer over a plain white table cloth.  Pansy tea light candles were purchased at the dollar store.  More pansy art and a basket with silk pansies were added to the centerpiece.  Pansy notecards were also set up at each place at the table.
